travelogue - maine 2013

posted on: 31 December 2013

we went home to maine in july with scot, tara, and danielle to visit my grandparents for a week. we were lucky enough to stay on the beach for half of our trip and enjoy the better weather. we spent time in portland hearing of my grandfather's old stomping grounds from when he was young, and walked the streets and shops of freeport several times. we toured a few of the light houses in cape elizabeth and explored the rocky beaches and deserted old buildings along their shores. grandma and grandpa made sure we ate our fill of seafood while we were there (you just can't trust the stuff in utah!), and treated us to a delicious dinner on the wharf in kennebunkport for Tara and I's twenty-third birthday. we still think about the joys of swimming in the ocean and waking up to the sunrise, and we long for nights sitting around the table playing hand and foot with the grandparents. this trip was good to us. this whole year was good to us. we are lucky.
